I’m incredibly humbled to share that I’ve been awarded the Guild of Boston Artists Award for Excellence in Traditional Painting in Memory of Harry Senger by the North Shore Arts Association.

Receiving this recognition from such a respected community means the world to me. It’s a reminder of why I fell in love with traditional painting in the first place—the power of detail, discipline, and emotion through brushwork.

The process from start to finish. Lovely day of painting at Brookside Gardens, thoroughly enjoying the tulip display. It was so fun to see the joy of visitors passing through, especially the elementary school kids. This was such a burst of color to brighten up an otherwise grey day. My study caught the essence of what I was seeing and feeling. I think of it as more of a note taking experience rather than a masterpiece, although passersby seemed to enjoy…which always makes me happy. Back in my studio I began the process of making a more detailed painting based on my note taking. Towards the end I like to look at the painting in a frame. I analyze and determine what needs to be done or maybe it’s done? I will let it rest for a day.
