Yet another new delivery to the Sharon Arts Center, in Peterborough, NH. If you have a chance, stop by and take a look. They have a great gallery with a large assortment of hand crafted items…a real fun spot to visit. I’ve consigned quite a few of my latest winter paintings and some new still life floral paintings. The snow scene pictured above is a local barn near the center of Hollis. We’ve had so many superb winter afternoons this year. It’s been a great winter for me so far.
Happy Valentine’s Day
Outdoor Painting
I painted out side the other day. It was cold to say the least…7 degrees was the temperature at 10AM. It is a great experience if you are dressed appropriately. There is nothing like being there in the moment to see the colors accurately and get the real feel of the place(which photos can not do). The sun was shining brightly(it actually felt warm on my back). I couldn’t beat the view, you could see for miles off the ridge I was standing on. The shadows in the snow were a gorgeous purpley- blue. I will use this plein air study as a reference to paint a larger piece in my studio.
Along the trail
With a string of beautiful winter days in New Hampshire, I have had multiple opportunities to get out and enjoy the season. I love to hike and snowmobile with the kids. I have been inspired to start a series of winter landscapes.
Winter Whites
I’m so happy to have my new tube of Lefranc titanium white, which I just received in the mail. I can’t buy it locally, so it takes some planning to order it online. I had run out a couple of weeks ago and was using misc. tubes of white that I had cast aside… just didn’t compare to the Lefranc titanium creaminess. It is by far my favorite, and paints like a dream on the canvas. This was my inspiration to paint a white floral subject. This was a great project to work on and very exciting to dig into my new white paint!
Winter in New Hampshire
Winter is in full force in New Hampshire right now. My kids have the sleds (snowmobiles) out and are enjoying the extensive trail system that abuts our property. Did you know you could snowmobile all the way from my town on the Massachusetts border to Canada? There are some wonderful sights to see… so inspiring. The picture below could influence a future painting.
On the gallery page I’ve added a considerable amount of new paintings. Feel free to take a look. I hadn’t updated the images in a while. I think there are some great new images that you will enjoy looking at.
A new year, a new blog
